Only two months after the loss of Legendary Swamp Blues Great, Lazy Lester, his family is one of the many that have lost their homes to the recent massive fires near Paradise, CA. Fortunately, his widow, Pike, is safe and was able to salvage Lester’s instruments and family pets. While she is safe and currently living at a hotel, a GoFundMe site has been established to help her throughout the aftermath of this tragedy.

The Baton Rouge Blues Foundation encourages everyone to consider supporting Lazy Lester’s family if possible.

Founded in 2002, the Baton Rouge Blues Foundation is a 501(c)3 whose mission is to preserve, promote and propel Baton Rouge and swamp blues. Through initiatives such as the Baton Rouge Blues Gala and the Baton Rouge Blues Festival, we are developing programs to present our blues culture via historical music markers, high school education, and a storytellers’ series held at the festival called Back Stage at the Blues Fest.
